History

1963

  • Started as Kanti Hospital (Pediatric)
  • 50 beds capacity
  • Fully supported by USSR
  • Run by USSR until 1968

1970

  • The then Kanti Hospital converted to Kanti Children’s Hospital
  • 100 beds added by GON ( TOTAL = 150 Beds)
  • Surgical, Medical and other services started

1986

  • 1st Japanese Equipment Grant Aid (JICA) efforts

          (by Formal Prime Minister of JAPAN Hon’ble Mr. R.Hashimoto)

  • NICU – 6 beds, PICU started – 4 beds, SICU started – 4 beds
  • Oxygen plant established (10Nm3/hr)
  • Pathology lab/X-Ray/Physiotherapy/Surgical Department/Operation
    Theatre/CSSD/Laundry with Water Treatment Plant upgraded.

1993/94

  • KCH expanded under Japanese Grant Aid
  • 100 beds added (total = 250 beds)

2002

  • 50 beds added by Ministry of Health (Total = 300 beds)
  • Neonatal Intermediate Ward, Cardiology and Oncology started

2016

  • Japanese Cooperation (KR II) for Central ICU
  • 52 ICU beds (Total = 352 beds)
  • NICU 25, PICU 15, SICU 10 & Isolation Beds 2 Beds
