It is a matter of profound happiness for me that Kanti Children’s Hospital is celebrating 50th anniversary & golden jubilee. This hospital has accomplished its successful and glorious period of past. It is being the only territory care pediatric hospital which was started with 50 beds now has been upgraded to 500, providing specialized care in most of the major disciplines of pediatrics in Nepal.
I am delighted to know that the biggest centre for specialized pediatric surgical, radiological, pathological neonatal and pediatric intensive care facilities have been upgraded by grant assistance provided by the Japanese government through the late prime minister of Japan Ryutaro Hashimoto.
There is matter of pride that is also supports various academic programs like, MD, MBBS, BSc, nursing etc in collaboration with National Academic of Medical Sciences, Institute of Medicine, various nursing and paramedical and pathological institutions. Similarly, I am glad to know that six inter-country training in IMCI, a major child health program of the WHO were held in its premises.
The future of this country is build, model and groomed at KCH because we all were child. It is indeed a matter of glory that KCH is providing services from primary to territory level with almost 60% of the patients coming from the districts, outside the valley.
I assure that government of Nepal is always with noble ideas, creative efforts and even further development of the hospital. I am confident that KCH will always stand on its objective to eliminate the childhood diseases from the country.
On this auspicious 50 anniversary & golden jubilee occasion I wish the Kanti Children’s Hospital a grand success.
Ministr for Health and Population
I am pleased to know that the Kanti Children’s Hospital is celebrating its 50th anniversary & golden jubilee function on 22nd Poush 2068 and I like to congratulate all hospital staffs who contributed for its development in past or at present. I am also very much ;leased by knowing that hospital will publish a souvenir in this occasion.
Government of Nepal is very much committed and has given high priority for achieving the health sector Millennium Development Goals (MDG) and we are in very much in right track for achieving the MDG-Goal No. 4: child health by 2015. If we analyze the infant mortality rate (IMR), we can find almost two third burdens for neonatal denths within IMR. This is also a single that if we cannot further reduce the infant deaths, unless neonatal deaths are reduced significantly. Kanti Children’s Hospital, being a national hospital has contributed well new strategies to tackle neonatal problems, so that other institutions and even community health workers can follow it and save the lives of newborns.
The hospital is receiving large number of sick children from all over the country and is facing difficult to provide service effectively in view of shortage of hospital beds and human resource with highly specialized skills. Ministry has understood this difficulty and will try to address the issue if good proposal received from hospital management.
Before to end, I like to thank all the staffs of the Kanti Children’s Hospital for their hard work to provide services to the children and hope that it will increase the service both by quantity and quality in future.
It gives me an immense pleasure to write few words in this auspicious occasion of 50th Anniversary of Kanti Children’s Hospital “Every single child has right to live”. In my observation this hospital has made significant progress and has provided quality health services to children of our country being only Child Hospital of Nepal. I must congratulate to all the staffs of this hospital and concerned authorities for achieving such progress. A lot of things are still to do for the health care of our children and reduce child mortality rate as Millenniums Development Goal is to be achieved by 2015. I extend my full support on behalf of Ministry of Health & Population for further development of the hospital in coming days. I wish you all 50th Happy Anniversary & Golden Jubilee Celebrations of this hospital and wish you the very best on this occasion.
